7 STEPS IN ANSWERING A QUESTION EFFECTIVELY
- Glance through your question paper once you have it in front of you, this is the first thing you should do. Read through the questions and note easy and difficult questions.
- Identify the main keywords in each question. This will help you structure your answer and make sure you do not go out of context. The keyword tells you whether the answer is lengthy or not.
- Jot small points you believe are the responses to the questions. You can just write a very short sentence beside the questions or state the points for each answer.
- Read through the exam guidelines if you never did in the beginning and make sure you read the instructions carefully. Failure to follow instructions might be detrimental.
- Begin by answering the easiest question. If you do not know which question is easy, return to the side of the page you jotted. The question with the highest number of jotted points is for sure the easiest. Follow that order and end with the most difficult. Reasons: once you start a good question and answer it perfectly, you get more confidence to attack other questions and such you reason better on the following questions.
- Go through the exam question paper once more while looking at your response to make sure that you are answering the right thing.
- You are good. You have effectively answered your questions
WHAT TO DO WHEN YOUR MIND GOES BLANK
We highly encourage meditation to students because it improves focus and as such making it difficult for your mind to go blank however when you notice your mind just went blank, which happens frequently in some people, you can stop writing for some time, go through the question once more and the formulae or answers will be falling in place. If you still have not figured it out, leave a gap, skip the question and answer the next questions. You can return to this question later.
